In its history, the Jesuit Educational Quarterly (JEQ) has served educators, administrators, and scholars of Jesuit education to better understand the Jesuit tradition and to reflect on its current contexts. JEQ engages the living tradition with professional peer-reviewed scholarship, digital content, and collaborative opportunities to explore, better understand, and magnify the histories and heritage of the Jesuit educational tradition. JEQ publishes interdisciplinary scholarship and research from various fields (i.e. history, social sciences, education, humanities, etc.) that contribute to the Jesuit educational heritage today.
The revived JEQ consists of open-access scholarly journal articles and a multimedia platform that explore the Jesuit tradition, educational endeavors, and local contexts in order to document and contribute to the living tradition today. JEQ is sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies (IAJS) and published by the Institute of Jesuit Sources, the publishing house of the Jesuit Conference of the United States and Canada.
JEQ publishes original scholarship on all aspects of Jesuit education, seeking both U.S. and international perspectives on Jesuit education, broadly defined. This includes pre-secondary, secondary, and higher education, as well as educational contexts outside of the formal classroom. In its approach, JEQ will center the following:
In addition to research articles, we are interested in publishing interviews, commentaries, reviews, and reflections. Jesuit Educational Quarterly considers all items submitted via the online submission system.
Topics of interest may include:
Peer-reviwed research articles are published in the journal online on a quarterly basis. Each volume of the completed four issues will be bound and available for print on an annual basis by the Institute of Jesuit Sources.
Multimedia articles are published online only on a continuous basis throughout the calendar year. Multimedia articles are made available as soon as they are ready to ensure that there are no unnecessary delays in making content publicly available.
